Portland Classic Guitar (PCG) proprietor William Jenks is proud to present brilliant Croatian guitarist Ana Vidovic
in an 8 PM concert at the First Congregational Church (in downtown Portland) on Saturday, November 14, 2009. Vidovic’s performance will be preceded
(on November 13) by a 6 PM master class at Portland Classical Guitar’s Milwaukie studio. Both events promise to be highlights of PCG’s much-anticipated 2009-10
concert season.
A former student of Manuel Barrueco, Vidovic is one of the youngest guitar virtuosos in the world. She was performing publicly by
age 7, and internationally by age 11. By age 13 she became the youngest student to attend the prestigious National Musical Academy in Zagreb, where she studied with Professor
Istvan Romer. She has already been hailed (by Richard Patterson, artistic director of the Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts), as “one of the premier classical
guitarists of her generation,” and “one of the most sought after performers currently residing in the United States.” And David Williams of the Charleston Gazette identified Vidovic as a “soloist [who] can really grab the audience and draw them in […] with a gorgeous sound and finely pointed rhythm.”
Now 29, Vidovic has already given over one thousand public performances. She has also won an impressive number of prizes and
international competitions all over the world; including: the Albert Augustine International Competition in Bath, England; the Fernando Sor competition in Rome; the Francisco
Tarrega competition in Benicasim, Spain; the Eurovision Competition for Young Artists; the Mauro Giuliani competition in Italy; and the Printemps de la Guitare in Belgium. She
has six CDs (and two DVDs) to her credit; all have drawn high critical accolades.
The First Congregational Church is located at 1126 SW Park Avenue, Portland, OR 97205. Reserved seating for the concert is
$49. General admission for the concert is $35 and $30 for students, seniors, and Portland Guitar Society members. Complimentary refreshments will be provided by
the Heathman. Also, a reception for Ana Vidovic will take place at the Heathman immediately following the concert. For tickets and for more information call
